Greenville Little League Family:
I hope you all have had a great summer. This summer, members of your GLL Board
have been busy working with civic leaders on plans that will greatly impact the
future of our league. You may have heard that through cooperative efforts by the
city, county, and Conestee Foundation, a plan has been approved that will transform
the old Greenville Braves stadium and adjacent property into a fantastic baseball
complex that we expect to become the new home of Greenville Little League. This
will provide us the opportunity to grow our league, possibly adding programs such
as girls’ softball and additional age levels in our baseball program. I hope to
have more information to share with you on these plans in the coming months. In
the meantime, we are preparing for another successful Fall Ball season, with games
this year again being played at Timmons Park.
As most of you know, Fall Ball is an instructional season, with more attention
being given to player development and less emphasis on winning and losing. It
is a good time for the players to work on getting better and developing skills
without worrying about the score. Our league has benefited greatly from the development
of players in our fall program. Our All Star teams from the spring represented
the league well in the district and state tournaments. We took home three district
banners this spring. Many if not all of these players participated in fall ball
at some point.
Registration is CLOSED - Deadline was Friday, August 29
All participation forms must be returned by mail with an August 29, 2008, post-mark date or earlier to be guaranteed a slot for Fall Ball.
Please put your application in the mail by this date. Playing previously in our league does not guarantee you a slot.
The participation fee is $75.00, which includes a t-shirt and hat.
The teams will be selected by the Coaches during the week of September 1st and
practices begin immediately thereafter. Games will begin in mid September, and
continue through the first Saturday in November.
We always need more volunteers for helping with Little League. If you are interested
in being a coach, team mom, field worker, etc., please let me know.
In addition, if you have friends that are your children’s ages at school or in
the neighborhood, please tell them about our league and ask them to join us in
the fall. We can only allow players within our boundaries or with prior special
permission to play in the league during the spring season, but registration is
open to anyone in the fall.
See you at Timmons Park.
