December, 2007 NOTE: Registration Period Ended on January 26
Greenville Little League Family:
On behalf of the Greenville Little League Board, welcome! Spring Season 2008 for Greenville Little League will be here before we know it! The City of Greenville
has been working hard to improve our ballpark at Timmons Park for this season.
If you’re in the neighborhood, check it out!
Spring 2007 was an exciting season for our league. Our Minors All Star team
won the League’s first state championship and participated in a Regional Little
League Tournament in West Virginia. Our 11U All Star Team won the District championship,
and our Majors team was District runner up. We look forward to building on these
successes this year while providing a fun, rewarding experience for all our League
players and their families during the season.
We posted the Spring 2008 registration form on the website . This year's form
is a "data-entry version" with which you can type in your information by tabbing
from field-to-field before printing the form, signing in the appropriate places
and mailing it in with your payment. (Or if you prefer, you can just print the
blank form and manually write in all the information.) Those of you returning
to the league may notice that we have revised the form this year to include additional
player information and a “code of conduct.” For many of us, our league is like
an extended family, and we encourage all of our league members to be respectful
of others and observe the code of conduct we ask each parent to sign this year.
All participation forms must be returned by mail with a January 26, 2008, post-mark
date. Playing previously in our league does not guarantee you a slot. Please note that your child must be league age 7 (seven years old on or before
April 30, 2008) or in the first grade to be eligible to play this spring. Also, please check that your address is within the boundaries of Greenville
Little League - please click here to view the GLL Territory Map. The participation fee is $125.00, which includes a major league logo uniform
complete with pants, belt, hat and jersey.
Please mail completed forms with payment to:

IMPORTANT: IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BEING A COACH OR ASSISTANT COACH, PLEASE
GO TO OUR WEBSITE AT WWW.GREENVILLELITTLELEAGUE.COM AND CLICK ON THE LINK TO THE “LITTLE LEAGUE VOLUNTEER APPLICATION.” FILL IT
OUT AND SEND IT IN TO THE ABOVE ADDRESS BY THE JANUARY 26 POSTMARK DATE.
Evaluations will be held on February 9
th and 10
th at Timmons Park. You will need to plan to bring your child on one of these dates.
For those of you who have not played with us before, this time allows the division
coaches to evaluate each child for level of hitting and fielding skills prior
to the draft. Check back on the website closer to the date to confirm specific
start times. The draft will take place the week of February 11
th. Practice and game schedules will be done after teams are selected. Practice
will begin immediately following the selection of teams and we will begin our
league games in March. Also, in addition to another exciting season of baseball
games, plan to participate in fun acitivites at our third annual GLL/Greenville
Drive day at West End Field and Championship Saturday. Watch the website for
more details.
We have a dedicated group of volunteers who manage all aspects of our league.
Special thanks to Dan Roberts and Jeff Macfie for their continued efforts in making
our website top notch. Our league receives frequent comments from others about
our website. Thanks guys!
We always need more volunteers to help our league run smoothly. If you are interested
in donating your time as a coach, team mom, field worker, etc., please let me
know. I know you would find your participation rewarding, and you are helping
make your child’s experience in the league a memorable one. Also, don’t forget, if you have friends that are your children’s ages at school
or in the neighborhood, please tell them about our league and ask them to join
us.
See you at Timmons Park!
