MANDATORY PLAYER EVALUATIONS

Sanctioned By Little League Baseball, Inc., Williamsport, PA

For those that have not yet been through Evaluation Day, it is a fun time that permits us coaches to see all the players in action for just a bit. Players should bring their favorite glove and bat and wear cleats or sneakers. With coaches looking on, each player hits about 5 pitches, thrown by a coach-pitcher for CP or a pitching machine for Minors and Majors, then runs to 2nd-Base on the last pitch. Please stress to your player that they should try the best they can in hitting and RUN as fast as they can on the bases. After all players have a turn hitting, then one at a time, they go out to shortstop and a coach hits them about 3 or 4 ground balls that they field and throw to the 1st baseman. Last, the coach will throw the player a pop-up to see how they can handle fly balls.

Please don't let you child get nervous or stressed over the evaluations!  We try to keep it fun and light-hearted and all players registered will be on a team regardless of performance - these are EVALUATIONS, not TRY-OUTS. This helps us ensure that when we draft players that the teams have equal talent. You might want to practice a bit with your players just to get some of the "off-season" rust off and get them comfortable with baseball again.
