A great night for baseball with the hard hitting cards coming out in the first
inning scoring two runs with a great hit for a single by Bonner Snyder and followed
up with a home run by Bobby Hudson who hit a hard line drive to the fence in left
field. Hitters for the Cards were Bobby Hudson - 1(HR)/2, Bonner Snyder - 2/2,
and James Farish - 1/2. Excellent play at catcher by Bobby Hudson and John Toohey
who both made outs on runners trying to score at home plate. Lucas Coan and Bonner
Snyder made some great fielding plays in the infield making outs at first and
home. Matthew Farish made two outstanding catches in right field for outs as well.
The Giants were led with the pitching of Hank Nichols who recorded 11 stikeouts,
2 walks on 20 batters faced. Beale Wood had a spectacular hard hit to right field
that scored two runs, as well as Will Wynkoop who hit a hard ball to center field
for a triple. Other hitters for the Giants were Conner Stephenson - 1/3, Hank
Nichols - 1/3, Drennan Quattlebaum - 2/3. Good luck to both teams the next half

The Cardinals and Tigers played Monday evening for the exclusive right to head
into Spring Break with an undefeated record and first place in the Majors standings.
Exhibiting by far their best TEAM effort of the season, the Cardinals emerged
with a 12-0 victory.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
• The Cardinals TEAM effort came with the bats in hand, with eight different
Cards recording base hits: Devon Ciufo reached base in all 3 at-bats, including
a leadoff double, and scored two runs; Brooks Brady had an RBI hit; Will Robertson
had two hits, 5 RBI's and 3 runs; Mattox Snow went 3-3 with 3 runs; Dixon Collins
had two hits, including an RBI triple; Preston Hall reached on a perfect bunt
and stole his way home on the next pitch; and Matthew Davis and Tom Kent both
had RBI singles.
• The Cards TEAM effort also came with the gloves on hand, including a spectacular
running catch by center fielder Ciufo, four perfect assists without an error by
shortstop Brady, textbook play at first base -- including great stretches and
digs -- by 1st baseman Snow, a great "near" double-play triggered by 2nd baseman
Carsten Taylor, and flawless work as usual by catcher Collins. Pitcher Will Robertson
stayed in command, recording his second straight shutout on 4 innings pitched
(14 batters faced / 45 pitches thrown), only 2 hits and 0 walks allowed, and 5
strikeouts.
• Reminding us that even the very best teams can have an off-night, the Tigers
did not play at the same high level of their previous three outings. They did,
however, show some glimpses of what they are capable of doing. Second baseman
Rob Frasher absolutely crushed the ball in both of his at bats, only to be robbed
by outstanding defensive plays. Pitcher/shortstop Evan Smith likewise hit it hard
twice, the second one resulting in a deep single. Third baseman Ashton Hinton
also ripped one straight up the middle for a long single. Tigers pitchers Smith
and Jones, who form one of the most formidable one-two pitching combinations in
GLL, combined to strike out 5 batters. |

The Giants started off the game at a disadvantage with their four hole hitter
running late. The Cardinals held them to three runs in the top of the first and
then posted six runs of their own powered by home runs from AJ Quartararo (3/4
2 runs), Beau Thompson (4/4 4 runs) and Reid Johnstone (3/4 1 run). The Giants
came roaring back in the top of the 2nd scoring six runs behind the hard hitting
Will Phillips (3/3 2 runs), Alex Brown (3/3 2 runs), Dixon Douglas (2/2 1 run)
and Gill Sizer (3/3 2 runs). Both teams then tightened up with strong defense.
Highlights included and double play by Giants second baseman Jeffery Johnson (2B)
and another double play by the Cardinals Reid Johnstone (SS). The Cardinals were
able to put it away in the 4th scoring 7 runs behind the strong hitting of Walker
Falls (3/4 2 runs) and Robert Matlock (3/3 2 runs)..who also caught a foul tip
behind the plate for an out. A great game by both teams. Good luck to both going
forward. |

If Little League could charge for admission for baseball then this game would
have been a great game to have sold tickets to. The Tigers and the undefeated
A’s squared off and this game had to rank up there as one of the most exciting
games ever at Timmons. Let me start by saying great game by both teams. The home
team Tigers sent Wilson Strausbaugh to the mound to face the hard hitting A’s.
There was no surprise when they were up for the challenge scoring 3 runs in the
first. The Tigers then came to the plate facing a hard throwing Weston McDonald
and immediately got things rolling with a lead off line drive to center field
by Strausbaugh and a single by 1B – Wes Reeves to keep it close at 3-2 A’s. In
the 2nd the A’s again got going with a triple by Peyton Kinman to get Michael
Stone across the plate and later add 2 more runs to make it 5-2 A’s. In the bottom
of the 2nd Aubrie Lauderdale st arted things off getting a base hit and scoring
on a deep hit ball by Tudor Malik to right field that could have been an inside
the park home run if not for the great relay home and tag by A’s C-Zack Cooter.
Carson Spiers then took to the mound and did a great job facing the A’s top of
the order and going 3 up and 3 down for 2 innings and holding the A’s scoreless.
The bottom of the 3rd the Tigers got things going again scoring 3 runs highlighted
by Carson Spiers hitting a deep ball to RF with the A’s RF making a great catch
to rob Spiers of extra bases and Chase Poplin hitting a hard ground ball to score
one of 3 runs for the Tigers to take the lead 6-5. Neal Satterfield then took
over for Spiers and put the game on his shoulders to shut down the A’s hitters
other than 1 run in the top of the 5th to tie the game 6-6. Then in the bottom
of the 5th Satterfield hit a bomb to deep center field that scored the go ahead
run for the Tigers 7-6 going into the 6th. With the Tigers defense of 2B- Thomas
Lister, Jack McEvoy, Will Taylor and Worth Gentry behind Satterfield he was able
to strike out the side with the tying run and lightening fast Bruce Stephenson
standing on 3rd base as the Tigers closed out this incredibly hard fought battle.
Congratulations to the entire Tigers team and good luck to the A’s team the rest
of the season. |

John Parke struck out 3 of the last 4 batters to preserve a come from behind
Marlins victory. The Marlins were down 4-0 and 5-2 before their bats came alive.
Offensively the Marlins were led by Del Wilkerson 2-2 (2B), Seth Lauderdale 2-2,
John Parke 2-3 (3B, 2B), Marshall Merline 1-1 and 2 walks, Grayson Stafford 1-2
(3B) and Ramsey Stephenson 3 walks. For the Cubs, Michael Spiers reached base
in all 4 of his at bats with 2 hits (3B) and 2 walks. Also contributing offensively
for the Cubs were Robert Borowicz, Jamie Connor and Rich Mulligan with one hit
a piece. |

Well....A game of two halves. The Cubs won the 1st half, the Marlins won the
2nd half. Both teams made some great plays, and both teams made some bonehead
plays. Both teams threw the leather around at times, and forgot they had gloves
at other times. These two teams appear to be very equal and very adept at putting
on a climatic finish. The Marlins were lucky, the Cubs more deserving. |

Great weather prompted a great baseball game between a couple of 2-2 teams. The
Cubs scored 1st with 2 runs by Justin Bailey(3-3)and Patrick Henry both scoring.
The Marlins scored with the leading batter Ian Miller(3-3) getting an inside the
park HR to deep right field. Rudy Johnstone then doubled and scored later by
stealing home. The pitchers Patrick Henry and Bryce Reeves then settled in and
allowed no runs in the next 3 innings. The Cubs scored 3 runs in the 5th with
3 consecutive hits by Harrison Stall, Bailey, and Will Chandler all scoring and
a big hit by Elliott Gilmer. The Marlins answered back with 5 runs with 5 out
of 6 batters reaching base and all scoring. John Krall had a big hit that put
the Marlins in front for good. Johnstone enters the game after Bryce Reeves
reached his limit with a brillant performance and had his 3rd save of the year.
Great defense by both teams kept the game close and very exciting for the fans.
Good luck Cubbies and great game Marlins. Keep it up. |

In the game described as "the battle of the unbeatens” on the GLL web site, the
A’s and Orioles faced off in a tournament atmosphere at Timmons. The solid defense
of both teams would show off in the first inning. The O’s defense would shine
and not allow any runs in the first with great fielding by William Luce, Lee Hudson
and Kristopher Sally. The A’s would return the performance and get the O’s out
in four batters with great plays by short fielder Edward Pollock. The A’s would
score 3 runs in the second on hits by Edward Pollock, Thomas Slade, Will Turrentine,
Austin McCalla, John Price and Andres Garcia. The O’s bats would rally to send
9 batters to the plate and score 5 runs in the bottom of the second. Clark Kistler,
Lee Hudson, Steven Cain, Miles Watson, Michael Wolf, Robert Luce and Hudson Davis
would get hits! The A’s would come back and score a run on a lead off single by
Jennings Huskey and a towering double to left field by Tom Freeland. A great stop
and throw to second by Orioles outfielder Banks Gaines would stop a sure home
run ball! The O’s bats would stay alive in the third with 5 more runs to take
a 10-4 lead. The defense would settle down for the A’s in the fourth led by first
baseman Sam Macfie and Pitcher Tom Freeland. The Orioles would score the game
winning runs on a double to right field by Hudson Davis. Orioles award winners
were Hudson Davis-Big Bat, Banks Gaines-Defense, Lee Hudson-Hustle, and Clark
Kistler-Toughman. |

On a day better suited for cold weather activities other than baseball the Tigers
and the Orioles played their last game before Spring break. The Tigers facing
Andrew Vail for the Orioles got things started with Wilson Strausbaugh, Wes Reeves
and Carson Spiers reaching base and later scoring on a great double to LF by Jack
McEvoy to get 3 runs across the plate for the Tigers. The home team Orioles then
came in and got their bats rolling with Robert Mace, Mathew Carter, and Jay Davis
scoring on a crushed triple to CF by Ashe Macfie. Carter Powell scored 2 batters
later and the Orioles took a 5-3 lead back onto the field going into the 2nd.
The 2nd inning again saw the Tigers send 8 batters to the plate and get a great
base hit out of Chase Poplin to bring Thomas Lister and Neal Satterfield across
the plate across the plate adding 3 more runs in the 2nd for a Tigers 6-5 lead.
In the bottom of the 2nd the Orioles got production out of Chase Achille, Rhett
Baker, Connor Whitlock, Hayden Brown and Andrew James as the Orioles put another
2 on the board to go back on top 7-6. Both teams then went scoreless for the next
3 inning highlighted by a GREAT line drive catch by Tigers CF- Will Taylor to
rob Mathew Carter of a certain home run. In the top of the 6th with the Tigers
trailing 7-6 having their last batting opportunity got things going and were able
to put an additional 6 runs on the board with a triple by Strausbaugh, timely
hits by Reeves and a base on balls for Satterfield to get on base and score and
a single from Worth Gentry, and another double by McEvoy before Tudor Malik hit
an 8th batter 3&2 count deep ball to RF that resulted in a base clearing home
run to take a 12- 7 lead. Carson Spiers then went back out to the mound in the
bottom of the 6th to hold the lead for the Tigers to end the game 12-7. This truly
was a game where every player on the Tigers team contributed to the win through
great defense, timely hitting and smart base running which is what it takes in
a team sport. Congratulations Tigers and good luck to the Orioles the rest of
the season. Have a great Spring Break |
