game back from his pre-season broken finger), Miles Watson and Michael Wolf. The
Cubs were led by Bradley Hughes, Conrad Pentaleri, Fletcher Mazzola and Austin
Hall. The O’s defense was solid again with a double play by third baseman Robert
Luce, two diving catches by Pitcher William Luce and solid play by the O’s outfield.

and Shaler Smith-Big Bat. |

The Cubs and Orioles met for a rematch and again it was close game. After being
tied at 3 at the end of first inning, the Orioles added a run in each of the next
3 innings to lead the Cubs 6 to 3. In the bottom of the fifth, the Cubs never
gave up and took an 8 to 6 lead on a grand slam by J Bailey and an RBI triple
by E Gilmer. The Cubs held on for an 8 to 7 win as the Orioles stranded two runners
on base in the sixth. Good luck to both teams for the rest of the season. |

Somebody forgot to inform Mother Nature that it should be warming up this time
of year in South Carolina. This one was a cold one, but a good one for those who
could brave the elements. The game was close from the opening pitch to the last
out. Glenn Batson picked up his second consecutive win of the season with Davis
Callaham earning the save. It was another well balanced offensive attack for the
A's with extra base hits by Batson (2B,3B -2 RBI), Wallace Hendricks (2B -1 RBI)
and Matthew Carter (2B -1 RBI). Also having key hits were Moore Lockman and Mason
Simmons. The Marlins were led offensively by Scotty Dickie who drilled one for
a 2 bagger and 2 RBI's. |

One of the few sure things about Little League baseball is that after a week
off you can be guaranteed one team will feel the effects more than the other;
today's game another example. While both teams had some stellar moments offensively
and defensively, the Marlins by luck suffered less from the layoff than did the
A's. No one should be fooled by this one; the A's and O's are the teams to beat. |

|
A battle for 2nd place took place and was well fought by both teams. The A's
struck 1st with 2 runs on 2 hits by Peyton Kinman and Zack Cooter and also scoring
was Bruce Stevenson who drew a walk to lead off the inning. The Marlins then answered
7 unanswered runs that would be all the runs they got all night but was good enough
to get a win. Big nights from Ian Miller, Bryce Reeves, Rudy Johnstone and Mitchell
Bryant added an insurance run with a solid hit that scored the runner from 3rd.
Great pitching from Reeves and Johnstone only allowed 3 runs and had 5 strikeouts
combined. Also great defence by Johnstone turning an unassisted double play to
end a scoring threat by the A's in the 4th. Kinman led the A's with 3 hits and
scoring a run. Great pitching from Westin McDonald who relieved Cooter early in
the game. Good luck A's. Great job Marlins , you are looking good even after spring
break. Keep it up! |

The Orioles visited the Cubs in the second half opener for both squads. Michael
Spiers took the mound for the Cubs and quickly worked through two shut out innings
as the Cubs posted the early 4-0 lead. Jamie Conner scored twice, Mac Ellison
and Hayden Mansure each crossed once. The O’s equaled the score in the third and
continued with hot bats and great pitching to finish the 6 inning game with a
15-4 advantage. O’s starter Brandon Hood picked up the victory with an outstanding
performance throwing strike after strike, recording 8k’s with only 3 walks. Andrew
Carter picked up the save in classic fashion with 4k’s on 28 pitches facing 9
batters. The O’s bats followed Peter O’Steen who took command at the plate punching
a double and a triple with 3 RBI’s and 3 runs scored. Carter added 3 hits to lead
all hitters for the O’s. Call ups Patrick Henry, Jay Davis and Matthew Carter
combined for 5 hits and 4 runs scored. Good luck to both teams for the rest of
the season. |

cardinals played the first half of the game better; the marlins the second half.
both teams displayed talent and fundamentals, mixed with some doses of scenes
from the bad news bears.except for one inning in particular, this game would have
been a tie. cardinals are a good team. |

This game started out as a great pitching dual between Tigers Wilson Strausbaugh
holding the Giants scoreless for 3 innings and Giants Hank Nichols holding the
Tigers scoreless for 2 innings. In the bottom of the 3rd the Tigers finally got
on the scoreboard with Aubrie Lauderdale, Will Taylor and Worth Gentry reaching
base and later crossing the plate. In the top of the 4th the Giants rallied back
and returned the favor with Hank Nichols, Will Wynkoop, Ben Smith and Carter Jay
scoring runs to take a 4- 3 lead over the Tigers. The bottom of the 4th saw the
Tigers add 1 additional run with a solo home run by Neal Satterfield to tie the
game 4-4. The top of the 5th the Giants added 4 more runs with Tyler Brown, Ben
Duvall, Cleve Wilson, Connor Stephenson, Drennan Quattlbaum, John Bowman and Beale
Wood all contributing to the scoring to go back on top 8-4. With time running
out in the bottom of the 5th the Tigers were able to come back and tie the game
at 8-8 with help from Chase Poplin, Jack McEvoy, Tudor Malik, and Thomas Lister
pushing Reeves, Spiers, Strausbaugh and Gentry across the plate to send this one
into extra innings. Carson Spiers went back out to the mound and did a great job
holding the Giants to only 1 and again watch the Giants go back on top 9-8. Now
with the game on the line the Tigers knew exactly what they had to do. The Tigers
were somehow able to get Tudor Malik across the plate to tie the game 9-9 and
Wes Reeves got the bat on the ball to get Thomas Lister across the plate for a
10-9 victory. Good luck to the Giants team the rest of the season and congratulations

After a long lay off for both teams due to Spring Break the Giants are the team
that came out with the hot bats and the Tigers came out a bit rusty. Barrett Maddox
led the way for the Giants with 3 line drive Doubles and 4 RBI's. Kevin Victory
had 2 hits and 4 rbi's and Christopher Reese and Thomas Cain each had a hit. Hal
Stephenson got on base all 4 times with walks. Thanks to Carson Spiers and Wilson
Strausbaugh for playing up with us last night. Wilson had 3 put outs in center
field and Carson played good defense and got on base twice. Christopher Reese
pitched a beautiful game, locating pitches all night, throwing hard and had great
command. Reese gave up 3 hits and had 8 strikeouts, he went 4 1/3 and Maddox came
in to finish the final 2 outs. The Tigers had a few bright spots from Alston Mickel with
a ground rule double, Evan Smith had a single and so did Thomas. |

Tigers 15 Giants 14 |

Can you say back and forth excitement??? How about the Tigers go up 7-0 after
1; the Giants come roaring back in the 2nd to make it 7-5; the Giants hold the
Tigers scoreless for 2 innings; and the Giants explode for 14 unanswered runs
to take a 14-7 lead into the bottom of the 4th. The Tigers push across 6 runs
to make it 14-13 after 4 and then, with outstanding defense, hold the Giants scoreless
for the last 2 frames and scratch out 2 more runs to win this game between two
very evenly matched teams, 15-14. Congrats to both teams for not giving up despite
looking up at huge deficits. Big hitters for the Giants were Alex Brown (2 for
4), Gil Sizer (3 for 3 and 3 runs), Liam Easley (3 for 3), Charlie McKissick (3
for 3) and Hunter Balck (2 for 3 with a base-clearing hit in the second). Outstanding
defense by Gil on some very hard hit balls, great coverage at second base by Jeff
Johnson, and a great glove at first by Dixon Douglas. Big hitters for the Tigers
included game-ball winner, rally-starter, and game-winning run scorer Jack Strausbaugh
(3 for 3 with 3 runs) and gold glover first baseman Tucker Shaw (3 for 3). Collecting
2 hits each for the Tigers were lead-off sparkplug Denton Knox, hit-it-to-me-and-I-will-throw-you-out
Jack Jopling, birthday-boy slugger and hey-look-at-me-I-can-catch-popups John
David Terry, base-running expert Matt Nineman, and stop-those-balls second baseman
Sam Jones. Special mention of pink lady, game-winning RBI hitting Wilson Smith.
Good job both teams and the Tigers hope they don't have to play the Giants again
in the tournament! |

This one certainly wasn't a defensive struggle. With both teams sending over
35 players to the plate, the Cardinals (being the home team) had the last at bat
and won in an entertaining game....19 to 17. The defense certainly was not bad,
there were just a lot of hard hit balls. Zachary Idris (2/4, 2 runs)tied it at
17 in the top of the 5th, 2 outs, with a seventh pitch, three run homer down the
left field line driving in Merrit Grace (4/4, 4 runs) and Conrad Pentaleri (4/4,
2 runs). The Cardinals Matthew Bethea (2/3, 2 runs), and AJ Quartararo (4/4, 3
runs) were driven in by Beau Thompson (4/4, 3 runs) in the bottom of the 5th to
seal the win. Great game by both teams. |

After a disappointing "Spring Training", the Cardinals got their post-Spring
Break season off to a great start with a thrilling 6-5 victory over the Cubs on
Saturday. Starting pitcher Cannon Few had his best performance of the year on
the mound, holding the Cubs to 2 runs and no hits through 2 2/3 innings. After
reaching the end of his pitch allotment, Lucas Coan came in with two on and got
a strike out to end a Cubs threat and eventually pick up the win on the mound.
Coan ended up with 6 strikeouts in his 3 1/3 innings of work, yielding only 2
hits. Offensively, the Cardinals were led by Bonner Snyder (1-3 with a run scored),
Coan (2-2, 2 runs), Few (2 walks, run), James Farish (1-2, run rbi), and Wilson
Nickels (walk, run). Jake Garland gets the take two for the team award with two
hits of the ball (with his body, not his bat!). Elliott Gilmer and Patrick Henry
pitched well for the never say die Cubs, who, down 6-2 heading to the 6th, mounted
a comeback that came up just one run short. The comeback was fueled by pressure-packed
hits from both Henry and Gilmer and runs by Henry, Alex Mahaffey, and James McKenna.
Other offensive stars for the Cubs were Harrison Stall (walk, rbi), and Justin
Bailey (walk, run). The Cardinals return to action against the Tigers on Tuesday
while the Cubs hit the diamond again against that same Motown 9 next Saturday. |

The Orioles & the Athletics squared off for the first time this year after
a long spring break. It was an exciting game and both teams played hard to the
end. The visiting Athletics had dropped their last two games and were looking
to get things back on track with a win. Ashe Macfie took the mound for the home
team Orioles and held the Athletics to just four runs in the first inning. Peyton
Kinman took the mound for the visiting Athletics, allowed one hit from Robert
Mace and shut the Orioles down with a great double play and some defensive help
from first baseman Nate Edenfield. The Athletics began to pull away in the top
of the second as Bruce Stephenson, Peyton Kinman & Weston McDonald all crossed
home plate to give the Athletics three more runs. Timely hits from Robert Mace,
Matthew Carter, Connor Whitlock & Andrew Vail threatened the Athletics, but
the Athletics defense played together as a team and held the heavy hitting Orioles
scoreless. The Orioles began to change the tempo of the game in the bottom of
the third with help from veteran pitcher Andrew Vail & the blazing fastballs
thrown by Jay Davis. The Athletics were looking to run the bases and put the game
out of reach, but Orioles catcher Ashe Macfie was behind home plate and helped
the Orioles defense temporarily change the momentum of the game. The Athletics
only managed to score one run in the third after second baseman Michael Stone
aggressively moved around the bases and then stole home on a passed ball. The
Athletics bats came alive again in the top of the 4th and managed to score three
more runs off of hits from Weston McDonald and Zach Cooter to give the Athletics
an 11 to 0 win over the Orioles. Peyton Kinman went the distance for the Athletics
on the mound, recorded six strikeouts and shut the Orioles down with the help
of a solid defense led by Nate Edenfield. This was the Athletics second shut out
of the season. |

Showing very little staleness after an 18-day lay-off, the Cardinals defeated
the Cubs 10-0 Saturday afternoon to improve their Majors division-leading record
to 5-0.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
• The Cards unleashed a furious batting attack, with 8 different players combining
for 13 base hits in only 3 innings at bat. Brooks Brady led the way, going 3
for 3 with 4 RBI’s and two doubles that each came within inches of carrying over
the fence. Will Robertson had a double and a triple with 2 RBI’s and 3 runs scored.
Maddox Snow went 3-3 with 2 steaks. Catching phenom Dixon Collins reached base
twice, including a double. Philip Bryant ripped a big hit to center field and
scored in his only at-bat. Taylor Carsten banged an RBI single and scored a run.
Tom Kent singled and scored, and Preston Hall added a run.
• Cards pitcher Will Robertson (4 IP, 3 HA, 5 K, 0 BB) recorded his third consecutive
shut-out, aided by another outstanding defensive performance from his teammates.
Center fielder extraordinaire Devon Ciufo, 3rd baseman Matthew Davis, 1st baseman
Snow, and 2nd basemen Bryant and Carsten all turned notable defensive plays for
outs.
• Although the Cubs didn’t have the ball bounce their way in this one, they gave
a tremendous effort from start to finish. The pitching combination of Micheal
Spiers and Garrett Keller battled hard, striking out 5 batters and walking only
one. Robert Borowicz pounded out a base hit and was fierce at the catcher position.
Jamie Connor and Jack Cottingham also added base hits. Ash Harward made a nice
catch in center field. Don’t be fooled by the score in this game – the Cubs are
a well-coached, deep and talented team. They are certain to be a force to be reckoned
with the rest of the regular season and come tournament-time. |

In a seesaw game that finished just before the rain came, the Marlins overcame
a 5-2 deficit to beat the Orioles 6-5. The game started with the Marlins hard
throwing lefty John Parke on the mound against Orioles knuckleball specialist
Andrew Carter. The Orioles scored first, plating 2 runs in the 2d inning while
taking advantage of the Marlins poor defense. In the 3d inning, the Orioles got
hits from Jake Mace and Andrew Carter. Blakely Swenson walked and Weston Nalley
singled to drive in a run. This time, however, the Marlins defense stepped up,
capped by a throwout to the plate by right fielder Andrew Slade to catcher Daniel
Mullinax. The Marlins scratched for a run in the bottom of the 3d. Scottie Dickey
let off with triple and scored on Grayson Stafford's hard grounder to second.
In the top of the 4th, Daniel Mullinax relieved John Parke. Over the next 3 innings,
Daniel struck out 6 batters, while yielding no walks and only 2 hits. The 5th
inning proved pivotal. The Orioles had runners on first and third with nobody
out when to most everyone's surprise the Marlins turned a double play. Mullinax
struck out the next batter to end the inning. In the bottom of the 5th, call up
Carson Spiers singled and Ramsey Stephenson walked. John Parke followed with double
and later scored on a passed ball. At the end of five it was five all. In the
top of the 6th, right fielder Andrew Slade made a great catch off a shot by Brennan
Sally. Mullinax struck out the next two batters to end the inning. In the bottom
of the 6th, Seth Lauderdale got things going for the Marlins with a hard grounder
in the hole at short. Andrew Slade walked and Carson Spiers laid down a bunt to
load the bases. The Marlins prevailed when Ramsey Stephenson walked to force in
the winning run. |
