Jewelry and White Baseball Glove Rules

We have noticed in Fall Ball that players are sometimes wearing watches, necklaces, bracelets or other jewelry and some players are using gloves that are white in color or have white trim.     This is prohibited by Little League Rules.

The jewelry ban is for safety reasons - the jewelry could snag and injure the player wearing it or a player he comes in contact with while running the bases or playing defense.   This includes watches, rings, necklaces, bracelets, etc, even if made of rubber, plastic  or leather.    Only bracelets or necklaces warning of a medical condition are permitted.

The  "no white baseball glove" rule sounds strange but applies to pitchers.  A white glove can be deceptive or distracting because it can interfere with the batter's view of the white baseball.   The rule states:

"The pitcher's glove must be of one solid color other than white or gray, or if multi-colored, white and light gray shall not be included in any of the colors"

So if your player ever plans to pitch, don't get him a white glove or a glove trimmed in white!

Note also that pitchers cannot wear white undershirts, sleeves, turtlenecks, etc for the same reason, and cannot wear wristbands of any color.....

Some rules seem strange, but they are generally in place for  safety reasons!
