Understanding tie-breaker scenarios
For seeding purposes, Greenville Little League uses the same rules as the International Tournament: head-to-head and then runs allowed. Those rules can be found under
Coach Central
. Essentially, the first tie is broken by seeing if one and only one of the tied teams beat all of the other teams involved in the tie, and played them all the same amount of times. If that doesn't work, the team who allowed the fewest runs through the course of the season breaks the tie and gets the higher seed.
Important Note: The software that is used to host the GLL website has a
View Standings
page which does NOT follow our tie-breaker rules. The teams are listed in order of the GB column (Games Back), and when there's a tie, it lists the tied teams alphabetically. Unfortunately, we can't change that behavior, so don't pay a lot of attention to how teams are being listed there.
