Opening Day 2023 Details

Opening Day is here, and we ... can't ... wait!! We hope that you're as excited as us about getting on to the field. Here is what you need to know about this weekend.

1) New Opening Day Ceremony! From 12 Noon - 12:30 PM, GLL will have a new special Opening Day Ceremony on Field 1. We will cut the ribbon on the new season, recognize the GLL Softball District Champions from last year, recognize the 2022 division winners and All Star teams, have a ceremonial first pitch, and even have a few special guest mascots on hand to help us celebrate! So if you are playing before or after 12 Noon, be sure to come by Field 1 to take in the new special ceremony!

2) Almost every team will play on Opening Day - The Opening Day schedule currently has 52 teams playing across 26 different games! We currently have games scheduled from 9 AM on Saturday morning until 7:30 PM on Saturday Night across all divisions. (Note: The reason a few teams aren't playing on Opening Day is due to that particular age division having an odd number of teams and one team in those divisions receiving a Bye. Those teams will have their first game on the following Monday or Tuesday).

3) Instead of team photos being taken on Opening Day as in years past, this year our Photographer will be coming out to each team's individual practices at Conestee Park and doing a photo session there. These photo sessions will happen at your regularly scheduled practice times during the week of February 27th - March 2. Hopefully this change will allow Opening Day to go a little smoother and to make things less chaotic for the parents and kids.

4) Concessions will be open! So bring your appetite and plan to stay all morning or afternoon, enjoy the Opening Ceremony, and plan to watch some great baseball!
